Kilkenny City’s First Cookery School Launches

Kilkenny Cookery School

We are delighted that our dream to open Kilkenny City’s first cookery school has come true!  My husband, Neil and I are looking forward to providing a range of exciting cookery, baking and cake decorating classes for budding junior chefs from six years old to home cooks wishing to refine their culinary skills.

With demand increasing for cookery, baking and cake decorating demonstrations, particularly for children, we made the decision as a family to open the city’s first cookery school. We want to offer people practical and creative skills in a fun, relaxed environment

Neil brings a wealth of national and international experience having previously worked at the Michelin starred L’Ecrivain and presented at Kevin Dundon’s Dunbrody Cookery School.

He will host a number of adult classes including ‘Fish from the Irish Sea’, a specialist workshop on fish (May 6th), and ‘Baking Breads’ including brown bread, yeast breads and brioche (May 27th).

He is also presenting a new ‘One Chicken, Five Recipes’ class – demonstrating how to make the most of local chicken from delicious meals to a beautiful home-made stock (May 23rd).

Cookery School KilkennyI love handcrafting wedding and occasion cakes and I am very excited about my upcoming pastry classes including ‘It’s Nice to Ice’ (May 13th) – a master class in cake decorating and the art of ‘Afternoon Tea’ (May 9th). I am also excited to launch our first five-week ‘Children’s Cooking Club’ series for children aged 10 and over starting on May 21st .

Parents feel it’s a huge bonus to be able to enjoy a time out with coffee and cake at our newly located ‘A Slice of Heaven’ Café and Patisserie on Friary Street,  while their little ones learn valuable lifelong cooking skills at the adjacent cookery school through a special viewing area that links the school with the café.

Last week we launched our new Kilkenny Cookery School with friends, family and a host of special guests. It was a lovely evening and a wonderful way to celebrate our new business adventure. See our Facebook page for more images from the launch.

We will be serving up our usual selection of macaroons, cupcakes and delectable treats with fresh brewed coffee and tea at ‘A Slice of Heaven, open Tuesday to Saturday on Friary Street.

Hope to see you at the café and cookery school soon – Mary

Classes start from €15 for children and €55 for adults – check out the full course schedule for more details.
